Ivelina Valeva

I received my BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Salford, where I developed a strong foundation in core laboratory techniques and completed a research project exploring the innate immune response of C. elegans against Staph. aureus. Following my degree, I spent 4 years working as an Analytical Chemist, gaining hands-on chromatography experience using HPLC and UPLC. I was involved in method validation, data analysis, and troubleshooting various instruments. I later completed a PGCE in secondary science before joining the research groups of Nicholas Turner and Sabine Flitsch, where I supported PhD students and PDRAs with their research and ensured the smooth functioning of the lab spaces. Now, I am part of Sarah Lovelock’s research group, where I continue to provide research and technical support to group members.

Outside of science, I enjoy playing drums and learning new songs. My favourite outdoor activities are hiking and travelling.
