Dr Joel Choo

I did my PhD at the National University of Singapore under the supervision of Prof. Zhi Li, where I worked on the enzyme engineering of styrene oxide isomerase to tolerate larger substrate loadings and achieve higher enantiospecificity. In 2023 I moved to Manchester to join Sarah's group, where I am currently working on template-independent oligonucleotide synthesis.

I enjoy solving a good puzzle or two over a cup of tea during my free time.
